NORTH KOREA missiles pose a threat to Donald Trump that no other President has faced and could wipe out part of the United States, according to a US senior general
David Petraeus, former director of the CIA, said ‘“irrational” Kim Jong-un was a “very, very significant threat”.

Speaking on the Today programme, the senior general added the despot leader had been “clever” in his dealings with the United States amid threats of World War 3.

He said: “This is a truly different threat for this President than it has been for any previous President.

“He faces the possibility, the very real possibility that a country run by a seemingly irrational individual, although I would argue he is not suicidal and has actually been regrettably somewhat clever in his irrationally.
But then an individual like that would have the ability to hold at risk a major city of the western United States with a nuclear weapon on a missile that could reach that location.

“That is indeed a very, very significant threat and again it’s different in various forms from what any of his predecessors have ever faced.

“So there is certainly an attention getting objective going on here, that is why there’s been discussion of military options even though everyone acknowledges that all these options are very, very ugly if you will.

“But the effort to get North Korea to recognise the severity of the threat from our perspective and to do this in a cooperative way with China, with Russia, with the other powers of the world, that is the objective here.”
Meanwhile, North Korea has been building a secret nuclear-powered submarine that could launch a “stealth” nuke strike, an “insider” has revealed.

It comes as the hermit nation launched another missile over Japan on Friday following it sixth nuclear test earlier this month.

An “informed source familiar with the North Korea situation” told Japanese newspaper Sekai Nippo that Kim Jong-un’s regime has been developing a secret nuclear submarine.

This would be a huge leap for North Korea’s navy which has a fleet of 50-60 diesel-electric powered submarines which are louder and therefore easier to detect.
Nuclear submarines are stealthier and armed with deadlier missiles and it is suspected that North Korea could be developing the submarine for this reason.
They also have a wider range because they can stay underwater for much longer without having to refuel.

The North Korean state news said in a press release on Monday: “The increased moves of the US and its vassal forces to impose sanctions and pressure on the DPRK will only increase our pace towards the ultimate completion of the state nuclear force.”

The news comes as Donald Trump urged the UN Security Council to crack down on North Korea as Kim Jong-un continues to build up his nuclear arsenal and carry out dangerous missile tests.
