Women have shown themselves to be equal to men and in many ways better in every walk of life. However, in the defence forces which are still viewed as a man’s domain, women are breaking barriers and making their presence felt. In the Indian coastguard, women have been allowed to participate as pilots and observors of the dornier planes. However in the navy, they are not allowed to act in any roles beyond that of an observer.
