What Are Weapons Of Mass Destruction For?

"We have biological weapons that could kill us all; We have bombs that could not only destroy this planet but our sun and the solar system. Tell me, why do we have these things? What are they for?"

The problem with accrediting ‘salvation’ with one particular region, people, or religion is it discredits everyone else. The idea of a chosen people can only stem from deep rooted sense of insecurity / fear, whereas acceptance, on an equal level, of every other school of thought demonstrates tremendous confidence and respect for others.
Certainly this kind of acceptance would not result in conflict..
Look inwards to your own insecurity & need for validation and find answers to end the conflict.

@iceman: I'd really luv 2 send u a video from the Bnei Baruch Learning Center called "Do I Have to Believe in God In Order to Lead a Spirtual Life?"

Don't worry: Bnei Baruch's videos are always interesting & aways entertaining. Oh, and other than the full-length lessons, most of the videos on the website are only 2-6 minutes long! This one is about 5 minutes I think.

I hope this does not offend u. Our Rav doesn't believe in "converting" people or something. I'm truly only sharing.

    Thanx!

@iceman: (2/2) Um, this is gonna sound REALLY weird now, but bear with me:

The concept of "Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself" isn't just some religious philosphy or dogma.

    It's SCIENCE!

Kabbalah teaches this concept in many ways, but let me just throw ONE parable at you: All of the cells in your body work harmoniously, all doing their job & helping to make you "tick". But just imagine, if the cells in your body started to function like the way humanity does now!

    Aaah! Cancer! (lol)

    @iceman: (1/2) "Why doesn't "god" do something?"

Again, I totally see your point here, BUT, I think (all due respect) that this thinking is sort of backwars, & I'll tell u why:

Say "God" really IS just inside of us & there's NOTHING outside of this Universe. IF that's so: then when the world is full of chaos, & everything is turning 2 sh*t, shouldn't the question be…

"Why aren't WE doing something?! " (lol) You see what I'm saying?

This is where "Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself" comes in!

@iceman23332: "I don't beleive in god, atleast not in the sense you or most people do, god is inside us all…"

Oh I actually AGREE with you here mate! (:-D

I don't quite view God in the same way evangelicals do, or that sort of thing. (A big guy, sitting on a cloud, stroking his big, gray beard & getting ready to throw plagues & famine down onto people for dirty thoughts- lol)

It would take too long to explain it all here of course, but just know that I absolutely DO see your points! :-)

@iceman23332 – (con't) I'm not just talking about picking a right religion, mind you. I used to be a Christian, & I thought that if everyone would just accept Jesus Christ into their hearts, the world would be a better place. But we can both see this idea is folly.

Religion doesn't poison everything, but it can poison a lot. People are what have 2 change. When the people change, then religions will change. How do we change the people if religion doesn't help?

That's what lead me to Kabbalah!

@iceman23332 – I know how you feel mate. I take a look @ the state of the world sometimes, & I think, "Will we EVER reach a state of total altruism & love for the other?" How can it even be possible, when most people don't even want to bother to TRY?

But remaining hopeless like this doesn't solve the problem either. At some point, we all must develop that "point in the heart", where we reach a state where we know we can't live like this any longer & are crying out 2 the Creator for a solution.

@iceman23332 – I think you make a lot of good & valid points here, but… I don't think the "answer" should be to shrug our shoulders & go "well, this is just the way it is."

It doesn't HAVE to be this way. Humanity CAN improve itself & chose a better "path" (so to speak), and it's the job of the enlightened people to help push humanity forward down this correct path.

    The problem we have is that EVERYONE thinks they are "enlightened" & special. There is no humility & only arrogance. (:-{

@84cio: "TV is considered a weapon of mass destruction too."

Great comment! I absolutely think that children are being given a tv as a form of "babysitter" so that a tired & hurried parent doesn't have to "deal" with the child at that moment. I know all about this- I was raised by a single Mom. She did the best she could for me, I have no complaints.

But we as parents MUST turn off the tv sometimes & encourage our children to go out & play! That will "cure" the ADHD in all of them! (lol)

if you could create a weapon that, on impact, formed a singularity, you could theoretically destroy whole worlds or solar systems.

It happened in the new star trek movie :)

    what they for?
reshaping and or moving things all i can think of.

despite emotionally exaggerated questionings/claims in beginning, somehow the video made sense.
    p.s.
we probably wont have sun destroyers of our sun's class let alone solar ones till around 43rd to 85th century, probably a lot later.

    Ego vs. Altruism
find the balance in you, is idea i found in it.

Instead of trying to build newer and bigger weapons of destruction, we should be thinking about getting more use out of the ones we already have.

I was listening. Ego also includes man's desire to believe that god does exist because we also want to believe that there is an after-life, because we don't want to believe that we are going to cease to exist, because we have the ability to reason but can't let go of our ego. Also, ASSERTING that I can't imagine this imaginary god and I must test him doesn't prove the existance of this imaginary god.

As an Atheist who was raised by Hindu parents, I've always had respect for Jews but not for the religions of Christianity, Islam and Judaism. I respect Jews because they don't push their beliefs on anyone. You don't have to be religious to understand the ideas in this video. This is something that I came up with on my own. It's good to see that people out there are thinking like me. Now, if only people can accept that we are animals and let go of the belief in an imaginary god…

I do not know very much about evolution just that we can see it as can I so I do believe in the survival of the fittest and the evolution of species. What is with the big questions on evolution? Do you have an alternative? Also if the Kabbalah knows so much of science and its origins why did it not talk about evolution during its first time in the public eye during the beginning of civilization? hard question to answer eh:P:P

Nope I believe in an upper force or power or god or w.e you want to call it. I do not look at religion like it is my life. I believe in evolution and the universe's evolution as well. I do however believe in faith. To me it is not faith versus reason it is faith and reason. Faith being Intuition and reason being thinking. Lol sorry for the story. The teachings of Kabbalah seem amazing. It does have a bit of psychology to it when they speak of desires. Have you found out anything good?

They say Kabbalah is a science passed down from generations. I want to see some evidence for their scientific claims if there is any. Thats all. Is there any? Or do they take it by faith?
