In this video of an August test, Lockheed Martin’s ATHENA laser weapon system burns down five drones. Laser weapons have huge advantages for the US military since they are silent, invisible, and much cheaper than traditional missiles.

    Good, nobody wants to see the superpower of the world commit more taxpayer dollars to its military then it already has. So at least military expenditure is moving in a direction that is cost-effective.

    Don't forget about the A B L (air born laser) that has been around for a long time now. Look it up. I have actually seen the plane here in Wichita. The damn thing is so heavy they have to bulk up the tarmac.

    If this is real and already that good as a prototype, America has a chance to win a nuclear war and defeat Russia's S400 , but they would need to create many more of those, with unlimited power to zap out every Russian nuclear missiles.

    They would have to do a preventive attack on Russia to prevent them for developing a similar weapons, although Russia already got laser satellite in orbit.

    This will be interesting to watch
