Britain’s navy has pledged to keep her shores ‘safe’ as a Russian fleet passes the British Isles bound for the Mediterranean Sea.

The aircraft carrier ‘Admiral Kuznetsov’ will be accompanied by a number of smaller vessels and it is not yet clear if it will move through the North Sea and English Channel or pass Britain via the west of Ireland.

Firstly that wasn't the defense secretary speaking. Secondly the Russian aircraft carrier is a crock of shit it is constantly followed by a tug because it is always breaking down, when it got to its station near Syria it was totally ineffective, all its aircraft were moved to a land base in syria. This is just more Russian propaganda.

Lol these comments, just passing by? That may be, but it's something we still have to react to. Do you non Brits have any idea how often Putin pokes at our defences? Timing our reactions and capabilities? A lot.
Any Americans sharing the opinion we are over reacting, i'd love to see the American reaction to a Russian carrier, Frigates, Destroyers and Subs pass only several miles from your shore line.

The Strait of Dover is only 20 miles wide. You could see the Russian fleet from the coast in Kent.

Does one really think that British defence's are so weak?
We will show our hand, if and when we need to…(God forbid)
Quality, and advanced technology, will overcome quantity and outdated thinking in this day and age….If it's not nuclear, it's psychological. If not, no-one survives…

you never know though it could have been a sneak attack because that carrier would not get any where near that close to the U.K with all the nato countries it would have to pass through.

I don't understand. What does "we will man mark them every step of the way" mean ?
Is it a threat to Russia to be "man marked" ?
Perhaps we should be using a gender neutral term just in case there are women on board too.

Relax guy's, the British didn't need to give the Russians permission to pass through and its the quickest route. our government would have known in advance, we have enough land sea and air power to repel an attack of that size anyway. Its just the media blowing everything out of proportion and the Russians are behaving and doing what they are told.

Poor old Kuznetsov looks a little worse for wear, doesn't she? Interesting fact that they keep a tug in the flotilla in case she breaks down, which has happened several times before on manoeuvres . . .
