Pakistan Would Need Three F-16 Jets To Combat One Rafale Jet

This video shows you that Pakistan Would Need Three F-16 Jets To Combat One Rafale Jet.
Come 2022, France will be delivering all 36 Rafale fighters to India and that would be a mjor game changer in India’s defence sector. Rafale fighters have a state-of- art 150-km range Meteor air-to-air mi$$iles and this will definitely be some edge over Pakistan’s F-16.
The deal signed on Friday is a much awaited one for the IAF, and the delivery would of the first Rafale would start in three years from now. Till then, in the event of a conflict, Pakistan will have to deploy 2 F-16s to tackle each Indian Sukhoi-30MKIs due to the latter’s superior weapons package, including 100-km range mi$$iles. But once the Rafales are inducted, Pakistan will have to deploy three F-16s for each of them.
“Rafale is a very potent fighter that will add to the IAF’s airpower and deep-strike capabilities,” India’s defence minister Manohar Parrikar told the Economic Times. Le Drian added, “The Rafale is really the best fighter jet in the world. It is an omni-role aircraft capable of all kinds of missions.”
French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation’s CEO Eric Trappier said the Rafale was more in competition with the American F-35 fifth-generation fighter because it was “a generation ahead” of the F-16. But the Rafales do cost a packet. The fighters themselves may cost around Rs 700 crore a piece. But the per unit cost zooms to Rs 1,640 crore if the overall deal is taken into account, which includes a decidedly deadly weapons package, all spares and costs for 75% fleet availability and “performance-based logistics support” for five years.
Moreover, the Rafales will be tweaked to specific Indian requirements, which range from the capability for “cold start at high-altitude regions like Leh” to Israeli helmet-mounted displays, advanced mi$$ile w@rning and synthetic aperture radars.
“The Meteor mi$$ile is superior to any such mi$$ile in the region. The over 300km Scalp air-to ground cruise mi$$ile also has two-metre precision capability. Rafale also has a faster turnaround time, capable of undertaking five sorties in a day. The other fighters we have can do only three sorties at the most,” a source told the ET.
The Rafale deal also has a 50% offsets clause, under which France will have to plough half of the actual contract value back into India. “This has huge potential to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities in India,” he added.

Russia’s ‘soldier of the future’ combat outfit gets nuclear-blast resistant watch

MOSCOW : Russia’s Ratnik “soldier of the future” combat gear has got a shockproof watch, which is resistant to electromagnetic impacts and capable of working even after a nuclear blast, Rostec’s press office reported on Tuesday.

“The watch, which we have included in the Ratnik outfit, retains its properties upon the impact of radiation and electromagnetic impulses, for example, upon a nuclear blast,” Chief Designer for the Life Support System of the Soldier Combat Outfit at the Central Scientific Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering (TsNIITochMash, part of Rostec) Oleg Faustov was quoted by the press office as saying

HAL Light Combat Helicopter (LCH):
The HAL Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) is a multirole combat helicopter being developed in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for use by the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army.
Combat in the Kargil conflict highlighted the requirement of an attack helicopter made for such high altitude operations. In 2006, HAL announced its plans to design and build the LCH; funds for designing and developing the LCH to meet the requirements of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force were sanctioned later that year.
The LCH is a derivative of the HAL Dhruv, which was inducted into the Indian Armed Forces. Basing on an existing helicopter is expected to greatly reduce LCH project costs, which is estimated at ₹376 crore (US$55.9 million). The Indian Air Force is to acquire 65 LCHs and Indian Army is to acquire 114 LCHs.
The LCH is being designed to fit into an anti-infantry and anti-armour role and will be able to operate at high altitudes. It has a maximum weight of 5.5 tonnes, and has a service ceiling of 6,500 metres. The LCH design features a narrow fuselage with stealth profiling, armour protection, and will be equipped to conduct day-and-night combat operations. According to reports, the LCH features a digital camouflage system. The LCH has a two-crew cockpit.
Prasad Sampath, general manager of HAL’s Rotary Wing Research & Design Centre, told the press during Aero India 2011 that the LCH is “probably the most agile design in the world because of its rotor”. HAL said LCH is of 5.5 tonne class, like the Dhruv, it is powered by two HAL/Turbomeca Shakti turbo-shaft engines and inherits many technical features of the Advanced Light Helicopter. The features that are unique to LCH are sleek and narrow fuselage, tri-cycle crashworthy landing gear, crashworthy and self-sealing fuel tanks, armour protection, nuclear, and low visibility features which make the LCH lethal, agile and survivable.
In 2006, HAL selected the M621 cannon incorporated in a Nexter THL 20 turret for the gun armament of the helicopter, operated by a helmet mounted sight.

Boeing AH-64 Apache:
The Boeing AH-64 Apache is an American four-blade, twin-turboshaft attack helicopter with a tailwheel-type landing gear arrangement and a tandem cockpit for a two-man crew. It features a nose-mounted sensor suite for target acquisition and night vision systems. It is armed with a 30 mm (1.18 in) M230 chain gun carried between the main landing gear, under the aircraft’s forw@rd fuselage. It has four hardpoints mounted on stub-wing pylons, typically carrying a mixture of AGM-114 Hellfire mi$$iles and Hydra 70 rocket pods. The AH-64 has a large amount of systems redundancy to improve combat survivability.
The Apache originally started as the Model 77 developed by Hughes Helicopters for the United States Army’s Advanced Attack Helicopter program to replace the AH-1 Cobra. The prototype YAH-64 was first flown on 30 September 1975. The U.S. Army selected the YAH-64 over the Bell YAH-63 in 1976, and later approved full production in 1982. After purchasing Hughes Helicopters in 1984, McDonnell Douglas continued AH-64 production and development. The helicopter was introduced to U.S. Army service in April 1986. The first production AH-64D Apache Longbow, an upgraded Apache variant, was delivered to the Army in March 1997. Production has been continued by Boeing Defense, Space & Security; over 2,000 AH-64s have been produced to date.

US Navy launches UUVRON, its first squadron of drones for ‘undersea combat’

The United states Navy has launched its first ever squadron of unmanned undersea vehicles to assist them in battle.

The Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Squadron (UUVRON) will likely be the first of many military units to make use of robots under the sea, according to reports. While there is a fleet of underwater robots put to use by the Navy, they serve a scientific, survey purpose and are operated by the Military Sealift Command for the Naval Oceanographic Office.UUVRON 1 will take on different duties that include a supportive role with United states Navy warships and submarines. According to a Discovery magazine report, it might one day even be used to engage directly with the enemy.

UUVRON 1 is based on DEVRON 5, an unmanned undersea vehicle detachment, which has been in operation for over a year now.

Today we are transitioning our UUV detachment into the first UUV squadron, said Capt Robert Gaucher, former commander of DEVRON 5, during the launch. Why is this historical? It’s because in standing up UUVRON 1, it shows our Navy’s commitment to the future of unmanned systems and undersea combat.

The Navy’s drones do not normally get the attention or fanfare that air force drones like the predator or reaper drones get. Naval drones till now, have mostly been tube shaped torpedo looking machines with fins and they almost always go under the media radar.

This might also be because the drones used by the Navy, were usually used to survey the ocean floor. Last year, there was a lot of attention directed towards China seizing a US Navy underwater drone that was conducting surveys. The incident caused further tensions when then president-elect Donald Trump tweeted that China should keep the seized US drone. Eventually, China did return the drone.

The United states Navy seems to be intent on expanding the role of drones. One such role could be the development of drones that can detect underwater mines. This is a job that has so far been carried out by sea lions and dolphins because of their ability to detect and find objects underwater, especially if it is murky. A National Geographic report on Combat Dolphins speaks of sea mammals that are being trained to spot and tag mines underwater as well as detect unauthorised swimmers. This programme has been in the United states Navy since the 1960s.

The Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) on the other hand, wants to build drones that can track and hunt down enemy submarines.
