Our head General of Stratcom U.S. Strategic Command has said on 11-18 2017 that he would not follow our commander and chiefs command to launch nuclear strikes if he felt them to be illegal.

    It's the duty of all officers (well, all military personnel) to refuse orders that they feel to be illegal.
    The threat to national security would be for officers and others to blindly follow any orders, be they odiously immoral, illegal, or the like.
    Further, if the orders are illegal AND the officer follows it, then the officer is guilty too.

    We saw this nonsense when spineless Vietnam soldiers shot unarmed, elderly civilian (United States v. Keenan) under orders from Corporal Luczko. The soldier tried to claim "I was only following orders"…
    And again in the My Lai Massacre…
    It happened again in 2004 for Iraqi soldiers and the pathetic excuse didn't work then.

    No military officer is bound to follow "illegal orders". None. In fact the MCUJ states that they must not follow illegal orders. So nothing new here. An illegal nuclear order would be a nuclear release order that was not confirmed by the appropriate subordinate.
