Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday said that the Pakistan Army and Rangers are “fully prepared for a befitting response to any misadventure from across”, accusing India of deflecting the international community’s attention from the ongoing state-led violence in India-held Kashmir.
Gen Bajwa was speaking at an event in Lahore where he applauded the Punjab Rangers for their “effective” response to “ongoing Cease Fire Violations (CFV) along the Working Boundary by Indian troops”.
While addressing the officers and troops of Lahore Garrison, the army chief said the army and the Rangers in Punjab have played a significant role in warding off “internal security threats” as well as on the Working Boundary.
The army chief on the occasion also reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army will always come up to the expectation of “the people of Pakistan who are our real strength”.
After a period of relative calm, Indian troops again opened fire across the Line of Control on Jan 28 in the Khanjar sector of Bhimber district.
