In 1990 I got stationed at Sta. Ft. Lauderdale, FL. as an MK3. While I was still on Port and Starboard as a break in Boarding Officer, we had a SAR alarm around 0130ish… we'd searched for this man that had fallen in the water down the street from a club for over 30 minutes! BSO was called and their dive team came out and found the man at his point of entry into the water. Seeing the pain on that dead mans face and the many other dead bodies have been with me for 26 years! I agree with Senior Chief Dasher, get help, tell someone what's going on in your head… it will never go away but it will become easer to deal with, with help!!! No one ever helped me because I had no place to turn to!!!
Shipmates, we all wear Coast Guard Blue… if you see a fellow Coastie Adrift… throw them a Lifeline! I'm 90% Service Connected disabled and I have PTSD and with the VA's help the "Memories" are a little easier to handle!!!

would you guys say military structure puts a tole on our personal? the pressure of very patronizing leader that can demoralize individuals and create a extremely stressful work environment? I'd say this is one of the reasons for military suicides.
