Photographs and footage of suspects linked to the deadly Tehran attacks were released from the Iranian capital on Saturday, as over 40 people allegedly aligned to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) were rounded up as part of a widespread investigation in and around Tehran and several other western Iranian provinces.
Head of Alborz Province’s justice department Ahmad Fazelian confirmed the arrest of seven people in the town of Fardis in Iran’s Alborz province just outside Tehran in relation to Wednesday’s attacks.
The operation came after Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi stated that his department had discovered the alleged hideout of the suspected perpetrators of the assault on Iran’s parliament complex and the mausoleum Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic.
