BAE Systems and The University of Manchester have successfully completed the first phase of flight trials with MAGMA – an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Sad that this technology is not being pursued in America. Check out the work of Robert J Englar of Georgia Tech (ret). He proved these concepts in this field 50 years ago and dedicated his career to its use in aircraft. Its use could bring down aircraft weight and costs of operation. This technology produces significantly higher lift and lower speeds at take off and landing while reducing drag at higher speeds than current passenger, cargo and military transports now fly. The U.S. has an extreme aversion to risk and so misses out on taking the lead in almost all fields it once claimed superiority.
