Her Majestys Canadian Ship (HMCS) Regina (FFH 334) and HMCS Ottawa (FFH 341) launch harpoon missiles during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) July 14 2008. RIMPAC is the world’s largest multinational exercise, scheduled biannually by the US Pacific Fleet and takes place in the Hawaiian operating area during 29 June- 31 July 2008. Participants include Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, Netherlands, Peru, Republic of Korea, Singapore, United Kingdom and the U.S.

    Without proper training, doesn't make sense to wear those fire proof suits….where's the eye protection?

    Its part of the battle station posture.
    Nomex gloves and masks will protect skin from fire and hit. In the event of actual combat, stuff within the ship such as flying bits of hot aluminum will cause great damage.
    crew on bridge or on the open deck will wear life vest and helmets or flak jackets.

    I believe its to procautionary, incase of fire or explosion. Protects the areas.
